Think is going to redo the meeting in which the party has elected its new board. That board has decided to do so together with the interim board, writes interim party chairman Metin Celik on Twitter on Saturday evening.
The board and interim board have, according to Celik, “after extensive deliberation” including a lawyer, decided that a meeting will be organized “this month” at which “all members can still be given the opportunity to vote”. It is not yet clear when that will be and how the party will organize the vote this time.

During the contested members meeting, Denk not only chose his new board, but also endorsed the nomination of the new party leader, Farid Azarkan. Both votes may now be redone. This is expected to mean that the interim board is currently back in charge.
Both experts and party members delivered after the meeting criticism on the course of events. Because of the corona measures, the meeting was only room for 94 members, while 144 people had registered. According to interim party chairman Celik, that selection was made on the basis of “a fair geographic distribution”. But non-selected members could not vote digitally either. With that, the vote may not have been legally valid, experts believed.
It is striking that at a members’ meeting in June it was possible to vote digitally. Denk never clarified why this was possible then and not in the election of the new board.
