A new upscale pizzeria in Southwest Fort Worth offers a unique twist on the all-you-can-eat style.
It was a wild idea, something that hadn’t been done before in North Texas, this crazy concept Evandro Caregnato and Vanderleia Mallmann dreamed up for a new restaurant: Grab a Brazilian steakhouse, remove the meat skewers, and replace them with slices of pizza.
Oddly enough, Delucca Gaucho Pizza & Wine has been a hit since the North Texas couple opened their first location two years ago in Southlake; so successful that they have both opened other locations in Plano and Dallas. Now a Fort Worth location is scheduled to open February 16 in the old Bravo building! Italian Kitchen on Hulen Street.
The couple worked together in Texas of Brazil before embarking on this unusual luxury concept on their own, which pays tribute to Texas of Brazil and other steakhouses.
For the uninitiated, here’s how it works: Diners pay a fixed price, about $ 22, for bottomless slices of wood-fired pizza delivered by itinerant gauchos. The price also includes an arugula salad, lobster bisque and homemade Kobe meatballs. Pizza varieties include cheese and truffle, classic pepperoni, shrimp and fontina, and Turkish lamb with sumac onions; there are also vegan and gluten-free options.
The prix fixe also includes slices of dessert pizzas for everyone. Among the flavors are roasted pear, gorgonzola and honey; flambé banana; and blackberry and mascarpone.
The menu at the Fort Worth location, according to Evandro, will be different from other establishments. For the first time on the mini-system, various à la carte dishes will be offered, including prime and wagyu steaks, salads and seafood dishes. In addition, à la carte pizzas will be served in the bar and patio areas.
Although the attractive old fashioned dining room will be open, there will also be curbside service and take out orders.
