/ world today news/ Left block of the BSP or LOST (Left United Forces of Labor) with the BSP is an ideological-political dilemma, which in a fundamentally different way predetermines the success or failure of the great question of the unification of the Left. The following are reflections of a small but authentic left socialist party “PODEM” on the occasion of the long-planned and held on November 29 of this year. forum in the National Palace of Culture with the main actor-organizer Kostadin Paskalev.
First. The BSP should solve its own real problems (leadership, policies, values) and not share them and burden the entire Left with them. From the contradictions and intrigues of some, all are losers. We need preliminary clarity about the political ambitions of S. Stanishev, K. Pargov, V. Zablyanov, K. Paskalev, K. Dobrev… The moral lessons of political parties external to the BSP are unacceptable.
Second. Is the specially invited former chairman G. Parvanov a catalyst or a mine with not so delayed action for the unification processes in the left? Has it been forgotten that with his social-liberal views he steered the BSP into a blind rut? How will a person who confidently claims that “there is no left-no right” and takes a comfortable conformist position participate in the unification? At the meeting in the National Palace of Culture, he once again declared himself a mentor status, referring to his “illustrious” biography.
Third. Many questions arise regarding the initiative circle and the officially invited parties, structures, individuals. The platform “Socialism 21st century” is logical, but why is it not combined and does not use the capacity of the “Left View” Movement, and a number of other related phenomena? It is good to look at a variety of famous parties, and at the same time it is incomprehensible when the representatives of the communist, socialist, agrarian, environmental, and civil sectors fall out of sight. Isn’t it clear that the socialist denominator outside the BSP is a majority, a sensitive majority, especially as a deep conviction.
Fourth. We are not captive to the past, but it is hard to forget some “feats” of key persons at the meeting in the National Palace of Culture:
– The initiation and promotion of the so-called A file law that offended and alienated tens of thousands who honestly worked for the security of the socialist state. And a series of other lobbying laws…
– The public association with the dark figures of the criminal transition and shadow business, which erodes the influence and role of the left.
– The cardinal change in the country’s geopolitical orientation without a referendum.
The future of the left is in the hands of the young.
Fifth. Left unity makes sense if it is authentically left. If he accepts and defends as his fundamental value – the socialist idea, peace and work. It’s just that the social is neither left, nor is it even less socialism. One gets the impression that at this stage, in general, the relative weight of the highly motivating socialist principle is being downplayed at the expense of social democratic and liberal views. The bright ray was the socialist statement of V. Zablyanov.
Sixth. Left unification is a public mission of the highest rank. It is not a laundering of political biographies. You participate gratuitously for the good of the majority. That is why Bulgaria desperately needs a new large-scale socialist project, which unites a maximum palette of real left-wing parties, organizations, individuals. An ideological and political alliance is needed – Left United Forces of Labor (LOST). A union of equal participants with its natural, but also revived, Blagoevian core – BSP.
Seventh. 2023 is a fateful year for the strength and fate of left unity. For the chance of the majority of Bulgarian citizens to have a decent life. Therefore, victory in the next early parliamentary and regular local elections is necessary.
