Fabio Quartararo face an almost impossible mission from which to snatch the title of world champion Francesco Bagnaia. Yamaha boss Lin Jarvis recalled the accident at the 2006 Valencia MotoGP.
The rivalry between Quartararo and Bagnaia soon reaches the finish line. Bagnaia is currently at the top of the standings with 23 points ahead of Quartararo.
So Quartararo will need a victory at the Valencia 2022 MotoGP next week. In addition to this Quartararo must be confident Bagnaia he will get disappointing results by finishing worse than 14th place.
Even if it’s difficult Quarterly but that doesn’t mean it’s unreachable. A similar situation is reminiscent of the belated rivalry between Valentino Rossi and the late Nicky Hayden at the 2006 Valencia MotoGP.
At that moment, Rossi crashed mid-race before finishing 13th, thus losing the world championship crown which Hayden ultimately won after finishing third. In the process Rossi and Hayden are only five points adrift in the final standings.
“We are still in the game,” Lin Jarvis said on Twitter GPone. “You never know, but it is clear that we have to win the race, which is certainly not easy.”
“Anything can happen. I remember in 2006, when I went to Valencia with Valentino Rossi. The idea was that Valentino would win the race, but Vale fell and Nicky Hayden won the world title.”
“I know that Valencia is a difficult circuit, anything can happen. This track was not easy for us, but Fabio started 12th in Sepang and finished third. Even with a finger injury. It was quite impressive. He is confident. We’ll see what happens in Valencia, “Jarvis said.
