Already in the final, Twitter went crazy about the strange racing tactics used by the Dutch team, and more specifically Demi Volering. Analyst Thijs Zonneveld left no stone unturned for Demi Vollering afterwards.

“Absurdly bad course!”, says Zonneveld about Demi Vollering’s course. “Unbelievable, unbelievable!” Earlier in the final, he also pointed out that Vollering “has a whopper of a problem if she doesn’t finish the match.” National coach Loes Gunnewijk also had to make do with a cynical comment from Zonneveld.

Nys and De Vries

On Belgian television, analysts Marijn de Vries and Sven Nys were also harsh in their assessment. “Kopecky couldn’t have asked for a better teammate than Vollering in the final.”

It is not the first time that the strong Dutch team has excelled in tactical inability. National coach Loes Gunnewijk will leave after this World Cup. There is no clarity yet about a successor, but Leontien van Moorsel’s name is floating around in Radio Peloton.
