There were few surprises in the selection of Roberto Martinez, but a day before the start of the preparation in Tubize, the national coach still shakes a white rabbit out of his top hat: Thierry Henry returns to the technical staff.
The Frenchman was previously T3 and T2 with the Devils under the current national coach, but a few months after the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Henry left the Belgian team to become a trainer of AS Monaco.
That was not a success and after a break he tried to relaunch his coaching career in the MLS. But during the corona period, Henry decided to move closer to his family again. He was therefore free and will assist the Devils in word and deed in the following weeks.

“It is an honor and a privilege to be asked by Roberto Martinez and the other staff for help for the upcoming European Championship,” said Henry.
“It’s a continuation of a story that hasn’t ended yet. We will do everything we can to complete the story successfully.”
Roberto Martinez is delighted with Henry’s return. “We are delighted that Thierry can join this European Championship. His tournament experience and knowledge of international football are a great added value for our staff,” says the national coach.
“Thierry knows almost every player and staff member personally. It feels very natural that we can now continue the story that started during the previous World Cup qualifier and ended with a bronze tournament in 2018.”
Henry is the T3 of the national team during the European Championship. 38-year-old Scot Shaun Maloney is the national coach’s first assistant as T2.
