Thierry Henry Predicts Messi as Winner of the 2023 Ballon d’Or

Anwar Ibrahim (Cairo)

This October 30 will witness the announcement of the identity of the winner of the 2023 Ballon d’Or, which France Football awards to the best player in the world, succeeding Frenchman Karim Benzema, who won it in 2022.
When Thierry Henry, coach of the French Olympic team, was asked to give his opinion and determine which star he would choose to win it, he said in an interview with the Brazilian CBS network: There are three candidates: the “legend” Lionel Messi, the Norwegian Erling Haaland, the Frenchman Kylian Mbappe, and all of them. One of them achieved good achievements and titles. Mbappe scored 55 goals and made 14 goals, and was runner-up to the last World Cup champion. Haaland scored 56 goals and made 9 goals, and contributed strongly to Manchester City winning the “treble”: the English Premier League, the Champions League, and the FA Cup. This is why Haaland is considered a serious competitor due to his achievements, which cannot be ignored or overlooked. As for the Argentine Messi, he won the last World Cup with “Tango,” which is why he is considered a strong candidate to win the award, and it is most likely enough for him.
That is why Henry did not hesitate to give his opinion frankly and clearly, and he named the potential winner. He said: It is Messi. He said: Many can discuss this matter, but when you win a World Cup, that is enough for you to win the Ballon d’Or, and that is why I am completely convinced that Messi is the winner. Even though I am French, I feel frustrated and disappointed that my country’s national team was eliminated by “Tango” in the World Cup final.
He added: As for Haaland, he has the right to wonder why I don’t win it, but we cannot deny at the same time that Messi, the owner of the seven Ballon d’Ors, deserves it if he actually wins it.
Aside from the Golden Ball nominations, Thierry Henry took advantage of the availability of time, during his speech to the Brazilian network, and heaped praise, flattery and admiration on his compatriot Warren Zaire-Emery, the “captain” of the Olympic team that he coaches, after he won the title of “Man of the Match” during the match against his team. Paris Saint-Germain against Italian AC Milan, in the third round of the Champions League group stage, which ended with a 3-0 victory for the French team, and Zaire-Emery was credited with two decisive passes, one of which was for Mbappe from which he scored the first goal, and the second for “Kang In Lee” who scored. Including the third goal.
