Arsenal’s involvement in the Super League did not go down well with many. Legendary Thierry Henry is not happy with his old club.
As one of twelve initiating clubs for the heavily criticized European Super League in football, Arsenal received its fair share of criticism.
Supporters protested outside the Emirates Stadium ahead of Friday’s Premier League match against Everton. Owner Stan Kroenke has been in the firing line for the protests and supporters want to remove the American billionaire from the club.
Club legend Thierry Henry has followed what has happened and he is dissatisfied with Arsenal’s actions.
– I do not recognize myself in the club and what is happening right now. I do not understand that they are trying to be in a league that would be closed, he says to The Telegraph.
He gives the owner group an ointment.
– They have run the club as a company and they showed their cards. Maybe it’s that they do not understand the basic values in football and maybe the money was too great a temptation. Regardless, they were very wrong.
Henry also praises the supporters for their drive.
– I am proud of what the supporters achieved. Not just Arsenal but all supporters. The result was a victory for football, he says.
