An unknown thief made off with a brand new Land Rover Defender 110 in Kortrijk on Friday night. Price tag: 100,000 euros. A driver of the Wingense car transport company Piceurop delivered the car to a garage. He left the car unattended for barely a minute.

The theft took place on Friday night around 1.15 am in the Spinnerijkaai in Kortrijk, near the indoor kart circuit. “Our driver Dylan Lagrou (30) had to deliver three cars to the Land Rover garage in Spoorbermstraat”, says Geert Piceu (53) from Wingene, manager of the Piceurop company. “That street is too narrow for the large trailer to drive in, so he parked at the go-kart track. There he unloaded the cars, which he would then drive the last 200 meters to the garage. There is a key in every car. In the case of nightly deliveries, we deposit them in the letterbox of the garage.”
Professionals at work?
“When the three cars were ready, Dylan went into the cab of his truck to get the papers. When he came out again, a brand new Land Rover Defender 110 was gone. He must have been in his cabin for barely a minute, but he didn’t hear or see anything. His truck’s engine was still running, but still, it must have been professionals. Dylan was very upset. He’s been working for us for six years, but we haven’t experienced this yet. Including VAT, such a car costs at least 100,000 euros. I fear he will already have crossed the border.”
Police were quickly on the scene but are still looking for a black Land Rover Defender 110 without registration.
