Thief is captured and tied up by residents of Santiago de Cuba – 2024-04-30 13:41:28

A thief was caught in fraganti and insured by the residents of the community of San Pablo, province of Santiago de Cuba.

It was in the peripheral neighborhood of Micro 9 where a man who was acting in broad daylight was detected by neighbors, who proceeded to chase him, catch him and tie him to a tree near where he committed his last misdeed.

Through his Facebook account, independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada shared a video in which the thief can be seen crouching, with his hands tied behind his back while arguing with one of the enraged residents.

“They caught him stealing, he changed his sweater so they wouldn’t recognize him, but all the men in my neighborhood chased him until they caught him,” declared a woman who witnessed what happened.

In the recording, one of the residents is heard arguing with the suspect, who accused people of hitting him, while the neighbor defended that this was not true, and that he was grateful that they had not done anything to him, since they caught him stealing.

“Notice that you are not bleeding, you are not swollen, you have not been hit,” said the neighbor.

So far it has not been revealed what exactly the man was doing at the time he was caught by neighbors, or what robbery he had committed, but he was transported on charges of robbery to the local police unit.

The growing insecurity in Cuba has neighbors on alert, who are increasingly less tolerant of this type of events, and prefer to catch the criminals themselves, even if they are later handed over to the police.

There have been several cases of subjects beaten by neighbors, who have already accumulated anger from the increase in robberies and assaults, some of which have been carried out with violence, leaving victims with machetes or stabs.
