LIVERPOOL – Former Liverpool player Danny Murphy assessed the arrival Thiago Alcantara brings not only positive, but also negative. The downside to Alcantara’s arrival is that many cheap faces have appeared in Liverpool, according to Murphy.
Alcantara’s arrival means Liverpool now have nine midfielders who are fighting over three positions in midfield in a 4-3-3 formation. Alcantara predicted Murphy will be included in Liverpool’s core lineup.
Murphy thinks Alcantara will not want to move to Liverpool if there is no guarantee of becoming a core player. After all, Alacantara has capable abilities as a midfielder.
The Spanish player can be in any midfield position. That ability is not owned by most midfielders in the world. Apart from that, the quality of Alcantara’s passes was extraordinary. Alcantara’s debut when Liverpool won 2-0 over Chelsea in the 2020-2021 Premier League showed his quality.
Alcantara, who played in the second half, was able to make 75 successful passes. Alcantara’s total successful passes were more than the Chelsea players made in that match.
Judging by the quality of Alcantara, he deserves to be a permanent resident of Liverpool’s midfield. Meanwhile, eight other Liverpool midfielders have to fight over the remaining two positions. Therefore, Murphy considered Alcantara’s arrival to make the faces of the other Liverpool midfielders grim.

“There is no doubt in my mind that Thiago Alcantara will come to Liverpool as a starting player. I highly doubt he has had a conversation with Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool coach) about sitting on the bench this season, “said Murphy, adapting from Sportskeeda, Monday (21/9/2020).
“He has great feet, good passes, has super awareness and can play in any midfield position,” he said.
