The federal government has deployed 8,715 elements of the Army and the National Guard as part of the Migration and Development Plan on the Northern and Southern Borders, whose purpose is to contain the illegal migration of people from Central, South America and the Caribbean, mainly, and whose objective is to reach the United States.

However, this figure would rise to 10,000 items, Jen Psaki, the White House press secretary, announced yesterday. That is, the country would send about 1,285 more items.

According to the latest report from the federal security cabinet, the Secretariat of National Defense, Navy and National Guard has 30 immigration checkpoints in the south of the country, with X-rays and Gamma rays, as well as 347 immigration control points and eight ships and boats under maritime control.

Due to these operations, between February and March of this year, 12,905 migrants have been rescued on three routes: Gulf, Pacific and Central.

In January 2020, national and international controversy generated that agents of the National Guard (GN) collided with a group of migrants in the municipality of Tapachula. In videos, GN agents were observed to form a human wall, carrying shields and batons to meet the migrants.

For March 24 of this year, after the new United States government, led by Joe Biden, asked for support from Mexico and other Central American countries to stop migration, the federal administration of our country reported that between January and March This year, 31,492 migrants with irregular stay were detained, 18% more than last year. Since then, the director of the National Migration Institute (INM), Francisco Garduño, has even led the location operations.
