The continuity of the national vaccination plan as of Wednesday will depend exclusively on the 500,000 Pfizer doses stored for second doses, said the head of the Ministry of Public Health (MSPBS), Dr. Julio Borba, after a meeting in Mburuvicha Róga with the president of the Republic, Mario Abdo Benítez.
The measure would be due to a desperate decision of the National Government, which does not have anticipated the arrival of another important shipment of biologicals that could provide a respite to Public Health in order to advance with the immunization of another group of the population.

Minister Borba explained in this regard that on Monday – at a press conference – the age group that will begin to be immunized as of Wednesday from this decision would be announced.
He guaranteed, however, that the complete vaccination schedule for those who were immunized with the first 500,000 Pfizer vaccines will be guaranteed with the arrival of more doses.
As he said, this month the delivery of 100,000 biologicals must be completed and the missing batch, some 400,000 vaccines, will be requested to be completed in August.
“We will announce the planning on Monday. We are obviously going to lower the age range and we are going to continue with the normal vaccination process ”, he claimed.
However, he also maintained that he does not know if more biological ones will arrive this week.
In the last Public Health press conference, the director of the Expanded Immunization Program (EPI), Dr. Héctor Castro, also highlighted that the week would open the registration for the vaccination of children and adolescents with comorbidity and that immunization it would be happening in no time.
Vaccines received
To date, Paraguay has received a total of 2,629,400 vaccines and has already immunized around 1,300,000 people. However, just over 220,000 have the complete scheme according to Public Health data.
It is worth mentioning that more than half of the biologicals that arrived in the country were delivered as a donation. Thus, to date, only 1,029,900 vaccines have been received out of the almost 9,300,000 negotiated.
