Chihuahua– Bars and nightclubs will be able to operate from the yellow phase of the reactivation traffic light, it was announced after a meeting of owners with state officials.
Bar and restaurant owners requested the meeting to seek an agreement in the face of the problem of having their businesses closed.
After an hour of meeting with the Secretary of Health, Eduardo Fernández, and with the Director of the Interior, Joel Gallegos, they agreed that they will be able to operate from the yellow phase, but that they must comply with a series of prevention protocols.
In addition, the venues that are currently open will have to ensure that the guidelines for the orange phase are met.
Mauricio Gutiérrez, owner of one of the bars closed by the pandemic, commented that another agreement is that there will be a commission to set the protocol that the bars must follow when the contagion drops and the orange progresses.
He explained that the owners of the places that are kept closed are urged to pass the orange phase, but that the objective is to work with the authorities so that contagions can be reduced.
Last Tuesday, Governor Javier Corral indicated that the measures that were applied in reducing restaurant-bar hours are due to the fact that in many cases the businesses circumvented the restrictions they had regarding their operation.
He announced that there will be cancellations of licenses for bars and canteens for those who do not respect the preventive measures of the sanitary protocol.
He mentioned that there were several cases in which the restaurant-bars relied on the fact that their business was selling food, but in reality they functioned as a bar, which was mainly detected in Juárez and Chihuahua, while in the municipalities it was noted that they were not they respected the capacity.
The closing hours of the restaurants were established at 10:30 at night in a generalized way.
After protests by owners and employees of bars and canteens held yesterday in the city of Chihuahua, Corral expressed that he understands the concern, but that in social gatherings contagions have been seen to proliferate.
