This Wednesday afternoon the civil association Women Saving Women received from the Rotary Club and the Spanish Sanatorium the benefit of operations without cost for 15 patients suffering from breast cancer.
Yolanda Jaramillo, president of the Board of Directors of the Women Saving Women Association, explained that the actions took place within the framework of the program “All Together against Breast Cancer”which aims to add efforts of society and private initiative to help women who suffer from this disease and who do not have the necessary resources to pay for an operation.
“Thanks to the medical oncologists who support us in these tasks and in the specific case of Sanatorio Español who freely donated its facilities, supplies and everything that is required within a hospital to perform surgery on 15 patients with breast cancer who they don’t have the wind resources to do it personally and they don’t have social security,” he said.
For its part, Celso Reyes García, member of the Rotary Club of Torreón, mentioned that this is the second stage of a project in conjunction with the association Mujeres Salvando Mujeres, which was achieved thanks to the global grant for about 100 thousand dollars.
“The Rotary Club has created a very nice and productive synergy with Women Saving Women, and more recently I can tell you that the club obtained what we call a global grant of about 100,000 dollars, most of which came from abroad, with that was bought an ultrasound machine, awareness campaigns and that was the first stage, right now we are looking to see if we can achieve a second stage for corrective surgery programs,” he mentioned.
This agreement mainly benefits women who do not have the resources or social security to pay for these operations, which have a over 100 thousand pesos.
