The Ministry of Health reported on the acquisition and implementation of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine in the second quarter of 2023, the body published in a news release.
The director of the General Directorate of Health Programs, Raúl Carbonel, expressed that with this measure the number of infections of this virus is reduced, which is the main cause of uterine cancer, a pathology that is currently one of the top ten most frequent diseases in the world.
“Initially, it is planned to carry out a preventive plan aimed at the population aged between 9 and 12, to prevent the spread of HPV, and then align ourselves with WHO projects in Latin America,” he explained.
