According to the program planned by the organizers, from the city hall of that city in the state of Florida, dozens of vehicles will leave at noon on Sunday, sounding their horns and adorned with signs and allegorical flags.
This initiative will echo in other US cities such as Seattle and New York, as is usual in recent times at the end of each month.
The caravan is part of the actions promoted by the Bridges of Love project, which demands the end of the US blockade and the sanctions imposed by Washington on the largest of the Antilles.
Likewise, they request the reopening of the consular services at the United States embassy in Havana in order to promote the regular delivery of visas and family reunification programs.
“We have been asking for the resumption of our right to send remittances to the family in Cuba. We have been calling for travel to major cities in Cuba to be expanded. We ask for greater medical collaboration in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic”, underlined the call disseminated through social networks.
Solidarity action organizers welcomed the Joe Biden administration’s announcement of the forthcoming resumption of those services as a sign that it is feeling the pressure of lawsuits.
“But all the air has gone out of this balloon! Once again, we are told to wait while Washington ‘studies’ the problem. We don’t want to wait!” the text points out.
Cuban families are suffering the prolonged effects of the tightening of the blockade at a time when simple decency demands more scientific collaboration in the fight against Covid-19, indicates the call to the caravan in Miami.
According to its organizers, this peaceful and legal action can be joined by all those who reject the blockade, regardless of their other political opinions.
In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Washington intensified the economic, commercial and financial siege in an opportunistic and unprecedented manner, as the Government of Havana has repeatedly denounced.
Under the mandate of Donald Trump (2017-2021), the White House launched more than 240 unilateral coercive measures and sanctions against Cuba. To date, Biden applies entirely the same policy.
