Monterrey.- Currently in the municipality of Linares there is the presence of a strong storm with a moderate risk of downburst (moderate to strong wind), as well as moderate to locally severe hail fall.
The radar image indicates the presence of small hail of up to 15-25mm in said municipality in the Santa Rosa, La Purísima, San Cristóbal, Nuevo San Antonio colonies, and places nearby.
They forecast rains for the week in New Lion
According to the forecast of the National Metereological Service (SMN), on New Lion there is possibility of rain all the coming week from Monday.
Rainfall can be registered from Sunday night, according to the report of the National Water Commission (Conagua).
“The rains could be accompanied by electric shocks, strong winds and possible hail fall, in addition to increasing the levels of rivers and streams, landslides and floods in low areas of land,” the report states.
The changes in the climate are due to a system of storms forming in the Gulf of Mexico and also to the remnants of rain that will leave Hurricane Enrique, currently located on the Pacific coast.
For Monday, a minimum temperature of 21 degrees and a maximum of 29 are forecast, with a 74 percent probability of rain.
The same conditions are expected for the rest of the week, but Tuesday and Wednesday is when more intense and constant rainfall is expected.
This may represent a benefit for the state’s dams, since they are currently below the optimal level of their capacity.
The most critical case is that of the Cerro Prieto Dam, in Linares, where the drought has caused it to reach 14 percent of its total capacity.
The dam supplies drinking water to most of the metropolitan area, so it is urgent to increase its reservoir so that Agua y Drenaje de Monterrey can provide the service to the population.
