Police asked for help Monday to identify suspects charged in a series of robberies along the Melrose corridor, including one captured on video in Fairfax last month.
The Jan. 30 robbery occurred around 4 p.m. in the 700 block of Norte Vista Street, near Melrose Avenue, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
Video circulated by LAPD shows two men getting out of a white car and then attacking another man on the sidewalk. Police said the victim had been shopping in stores, and the suspects who assaulted him took his belongings, including a Rolex watch.
The suspects then left in the white car.
Since that day, the department noted that armed robberies during shopping and at places to eat in the Mid-City area along the Melrose corridor have increased, noting seven robberies that have occurred since Jan.30 involving Rolex watches.
“A lot of these robberies take place during the day,” LAPD said. “The suspects have targeted people who wear high-end jewelry, specifically Rolex watches.”
The suspects, described as black men in their 20s and 30s, follow the victims as they stop at restaurants and shops, according to police.
“In most cases, suspects wait for victims to walk into their vehicles and arrive in an isolated area before they are attacked at gunpoint,” LAPD said.
The department asked anyone with information about the incidents to call robbery detective S. Villatoro at 213-922-8217.
