Tom Hollander, the actor of the White Lotus and Pirates of the Caribbean movies, was finally able to talk openly on Seth Meyers’ talk show about how difficult it is for him to be confused with Tom Holland, the star of the Spider-Man movies.
At first, Hollander only talked on the air about how disappointing it is for children who are obviously expecting Spider-Man when they meet him, but he also told an even steeper story. The two actors were at the same agency for a short time, and the similarity between the two names also puzzled the company’s accountants.
Hollander was sitting in a theater performance when he checked his emails during a break, where a letter popped up about how much bonus he would get after the opening box office receipts of the Avengers movie. According to the actor, the letter contained a seven-figure sum (in dollars), so much money that he had never received for any role in his life. Moreover, this was not Holland’s salary, just a bonus, from which it is suspected that more came due to the success of the Marvel film.
