They want to introduce double price tags in Russian stores

On the price tags in Russian stores, it was suggested, in addition to the cost of the goods, to indicate its price for the standard weight or volume of the product. They want to oblige retailers to introduce new standards, where the price tag should indicate the cost of both a unit of goods and 1 kg or 1 liter.

The initiative is aimed at combating the recently widespread practice of reducing the packaging of goods from standard volumes, so instead of 1 liter, manufacturers pour 950 or 900 ml of milk. The initiative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade was proposed by the Union of Consumers of Russia. This will deprive manufacturers of an incentive to gradually reduce the weight or volume of packages without lowering the price, said the head of the Union, Petr Shelishch. He noted that customers in the store do not always have the opportunity to recalculate the price due to the different volume of packages. The Auchan supermarket chain already uses this practice.
