JAYAPURA, KOMPAS.com – An armed criminal group (KKB) set fire to a helicopter that was parked at Ilaga Airport, Puncak Regency, Papua, on Sunday (11/4/2021) night.
However, the helicopter belonging to PT Ersa Air was confirmed to be in a damaged condition.

“The helicopter is in a flightless condition and belongs to the private sector, it was burned at Ilaga Airport,” he said Kapolda Papua Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri, when contacted by telephone, Monday (12/4/2021).
According to Fakhiri, the arson was colored by shooting.
However, he assessed that the KKB’s actions were more because they were trying to disrupt flight activities in a number of mountainous areas.

“They want to disrupt flight activities. Of course we have instructed us to pay close attention to the airport because at some points activities can only be by air, such as Ilaga, Beoga, and Intan Jaya,” said Fakhiri.
This morning, continued Fakhiri, the security situation in Ilaga was conducive and personnel from the Puncak Police had carried out the case incident.
