They want the post of educational assistant to be created: anger rises at the Val d’Élorn college in Sizun

Discontent has grown at the Val d’Élorn college in Sizun. On this Monday, September 30, 2024, two thirds of teachers saw a strike move to support their fellow management who they consider to be understaffed. The reason is that half an educational assistant (AED) was lost at the beginning of the school year in September. So they were set up from 4 to 3.5 positions. Enough according to education assistants who point out in particular that the college has 260 students as well as a boarding school that accommodates 17 students, some of them in difficult situations.

A letter to light the powder

This past Monday, the school life team (AED and chief educational advisor) decided to go on strike with a few days notice. With a simple request: allocation of an additional position.

A letter sent by the academic inspector to parents and Dasen (National Education Services Academic Director), highlighted the problem, causing confusion among teachers and staff. It could be read that all classes and meals would be provided this Monday. A statement that made the teaching team jump.

Courses without insurance

The latter joined the movement. Therefore, in addition to three supervisors and the CPE, the six AESH (Supporting students with disabilities) as well as two thirds of the teachers (15 out of 22) entered the movement, contradicting the academic letter’s confirmation. Classes were not provided. The principal, Christian Lécolier, and the academic inspector, Stéphane Revelen, welcomed the students to the center. In the evening, the group of strikers, who were still waiting to receive Dasen, were to meet the parents of the students to explain why they were unhappy and the poor situation at the college and re -confirm the desire to continue the movement.
