Immunization against Covid has been the insistence of the health portfolio in the last two years. The currently available platform is the Moderna vaccine.
In 2022, the MSP has repeatedly insisted on the application of doses against measles, polio and rubella, due to the high risk of case outbreaks.
Especially measles has been prowling in the countries of the region. However, in Paraguay no new cases have been detected.
The application of yellow fever doses, which are within the regular scheme, is another insistence of the Public Health authorities.
This biologic is applied at one year of life, together with the MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine and the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV 13) booster, according to the Expanded Immunization Program (PAI).
It also applies to the population between the ages of 2 and 59 who have not yet received it.
According to the data provided by the PAI, there were 155,252 people inoculated with doses of the yellow fever vaccine in 2022.
In what corresponds to the new year, 1,697 doses have been applied so far. It is precisely in the summer season where there is a high demand for said vaccine.
The PAI also recalls that vaccines have been shown to save lives.
