They urge to complete the vaccination schedule for children during the winter holidays

With the beginning of the winter holidays in Salta, the Ministry of Public Health reminds the family of the importance of controlling the children’s vaccination card, since there are vaccines that must be reinforced to protect the immune system against diseases.

During the entrance to the Primary school, the children of 5 and 6 years must receive the booster of the following vaccines, as stipulated by the National Vaccination Calendar:

· Poliomyelitis: IPV booster

Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by the polio virus and primarily affects the central nervous system. It usually occurs in infants and children under 5 years of age. Symptoms may begin with a sore throat and fever. Some people may feel pain in the neck, back, or legs.

·         Triple Viral SRP: segunda dosis

The inoculation of this vaccine protects against measles, rubella and mumps.

Measles is a childhood infection caused by a virus and easily spread through the air through small droplets of saliva when coughing or sneezing. Symptoms include cough, runny nose, eye inflammation, sore throat, fever, and a red, blotchy skin rash.

Rubella is a viral disease that can occur in adults and children. When a susceptible pregnant woman is exposed to the virus, it can lead to fetal and neonatal death and Congenital Rubella Syndrome with serious malformations in the newborn, producing deafness, blindness and congenital heart disease.

Mumps, commonly known as mumps, is a viral infection that affects the parotid glands. It is spread through infected saliva and the most common symptoms are swollen and painful salivary glands, fever, headache, fatigue and loss of appetite.

· Triple Bacterial Cellular DTP: second booster

Immunization with this biological material protects a person from diphtheria, tetanus, and whooping cough.

Diphtheria is an acute infection of the nose and throat caused by bacteria that can cause fever and shortness of breath. It is transmitted from person to person through respiratory secretions that infected patients expel when coughing, speaking or sneezing.

Tetanus is a bacterial infection that causes painful muscle spasms. It enters the body through contaminated wounds or cuts with rusty objects, such as nails and cans.

Whooping cough is a respiratory tract infection that usually affects boys and girls. Common symptoms include a runny nose, nasal congestion, and sneezing.

The applications of these vaccines are free in all public health centers and hospitals in the province. Children must go with a family member to the health facility and bring their identity document and vaccination card.
