The handymen of the modders they are capable of doing almost anything you can imagine armed with patience, cables, electrical tape, a good tin and different pieces with which they make their projects come true.
Today’s case is that of Guy Dupont, a modder who got an old iPod and remembered how good it felt to use it, so he wanted give it a new life giving it new functionalities turning it into a Spotify player that you can take anywhere.
To achieve this, Dupont introduced inside the case of this iPod a placa Raspberry Pi Zero W because, obviously, to use Spotify you needed an internet connection, something that these iPods did not usually have in their first models.
A new life for an old iPod
Thanks to this new board, Dupont could begin to give a new life to this old iPod, with the connection WiFi, possibility to connect other devices goes Bluetooth and also the option of customize interface to make it optimal for playing Spotify songs.
In addition the modder also adds a new 1000 mAh battery and keeps the classic wheel one of these iPods that is not only fully functional but has been enhanced with optical feedback to make it more comfortable to touch.
The iPod also has a USB port To recharge the battery and fiddle with the system, and although it still has a minijack output, it is no longer operational, so if we want to connect our headphones it will have to be through Bluetooth.
If any of you want to follow their example you know that Dupont has published everything necessary to do so in this GitHub link.
What do you think of the new life that Dupont has given to this old iPod? Do any of you keep this player at home to carry out the project?
