The O Areal river area, in Berres (A Estrada), hides new surprises. The tunnel over which the road runs – built to bridge a small stream – has become a curious art gallery. Steps have been built so that they can move through the tunnel without getting wet, and seven large-format photographs have been installed on the walls of the tunnel. Some are from the famous lumeiro de San Xon with which the summer solstice is celebrated each year. Others allude to the enclave’s past. Like that of a group of workers in a boat who stop at work to pose before the photographer. They were the famous areeiros who gave the place its name, since the Areal denomination refers to the extraction of sand for the construction that used to be carried out in the area.

The galley is found following the path that runs from the beach in the direction of A Estrada. The combination of the peculiarity of the environment, the sound of water and art augurs an interesting sensory experience.

The organizers offer the space to the artists as an exhibition hall, with the intention of periodically renewing the samples. But in O Areal there is more news this winter. The original palloza -very deteriorated- has been dismantled to build a new one. There will also be a new wooden canopy. The organization advances that this year San Xon will be celebrated, either live or streaming, like last year. The theme this time will be the Age of Aquarius.
