Yogeshwar Narine, an employee of the New York City Department of Education (DEO), was arrested and suspended from work for allegedly trying to kidnap a 15-year-old girl and put her in his car on a Queens street while he was heading to school. school

Narine, 32, faces charges of iattempted kidnapping and endangering the welfare of a minor for the incident that occurred Wednesday morning near Francis Lewis Blvd. and 113th Road in Queens Village, the NYPD said yesterday.

The suspect is a DOE thermostat repairman, he told Daily News a police source with knowledge of the case.

The fifteen-year-old was heading to school when Narine apparently approached and tried to chat with her. A moment later, He grabbed the teenager and tried to put her in his truckbut managed to free himself and flee.

The suspect accelerated in his car and fled, but surveillance cameras in the area recorded him. Detectives were then able to locate Narine by tracing ownership of the car, police said.

DOE officials said the worker had been suspended from his current duties. “Nothing is more important than the safety and well-being of our students. This alleged behavior [es] extremely worrying. “This employee has been reassigned pending the outcome of the arrest and, if found guilty, we will seek his termination,” said public schools spokesperson Jenna Lyle.

There is no indication that Narine knew this particular teenager because of his work in the city schools, a police source said.

It was his first arrest. Police also charged him with luring a minor and attempting to unlawfully detain him. All charges are mere accusations and those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

In a similar case, in September two women tried to kidnap a 5-year-old boy in broad daylight on a street in Queens and then fled in a car.

In October, a man was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping an 11-year-old girl in New Jersey and taking her to Delaware.

In April, a man was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl whom he put into his car while returning home from the movies in New Jersey.
