A meeting of the Regional Traffic Safety Commission was held, led by the Regional Governor Prof. Maria Neikova.
Urgent issues that arose in connection with the implemented activities to ensure the safety of road traffic in the period June-September were discussed with a focus on the preparation for the beginning of the school year.
“Taking preventive measures to ensure a safe environment for students is a large-scale activity on the part of all institutions, with which I see no compromises being made.” This will provide peace of mind for both the children and teachers, as well as their families,” said regional governor Prof. Maria Neikova and expressed her gratitude for the responsible attitude and expediency in ensuring road safety.
All the municipalities of the Burgas region stated that they have taken the necessary measures to ensure road safety – renewing the markings of the pedestrian paths, maintaining the traffic lights in working order, cleaning the road sections of vegetation so as not to obstruct the drivers’ visibility.
Artificial bumps will be installed in places to ensure an unhindered crossing.
In order to stop the risky crossing of the roadway, safety railings will be installed on the sidewalks.
Ongoing maintenance of road signs and elements related to traffic safety is carried out and restored where they are missing.
New footpaths are set aside and speed limits are introduced in road sections where students cross or where there is a concentration of road accidents.
There will also be year-round increased control by the ODMVR-Burgas near schools, dangerous areas, pedestrian crossings and intersections.
The reconstruction and repaving of the road infrastructure continues in populated areas, as well as the design and selection of contractors for projects of the Regional Road Administration.
