The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, in one of the speed inspection devices established in coordination with the Provincial Traffic Headquarters of Murcia, aimed at preventing traffic accidents, mainly motorcycles, has identified two drivers on the RM-E22 highway (Canteras-Puerto de Mazarrón), who were circulating at a speed greater than the 80 km / h allowed for that road.
Both motorists have been investigated as alleged perpetrators of a crime against road safety, for driving a motor vehicle at a speed higher than 80 km / ha by regulation on interurban roads.
The events occurred when civil guards from the Cartagena Traffic Detachment, while they were carrying out a specific speed control on the RM-E22 highway (Canteras-Puerto de Mazarrón, they detected a motorcycle traveling at 191 km / h in a section limited to 70 km / h, thereby exceeding the maximum speed allowed by 121 km / h.
A few hours later on that same road, the civil guards identified the driver of another motorcycle while he was traveling at 144 km / h in a section limited to 50 km / h, exceeding the maximum speed allowed by 94 km / h.
Both drivers were investigated and proceedings were instructed as alleged perpetrators of a crime against road safety, for driving a motor vehicle at a speed greater than 80 km / h than the one legally allowed on an interurban road.
They are two young people, 34 and 27 years old, neighbors of Cartagena, one of whom also circulated with a companion on board. Those investigated and the proceedings instituted were made available to the Investigating Court of Cartagena, for the holding of the corresponding trials.
OTHER RECENT CASES
Recently, the Civil Guard has instructed the driver of a passenger car that was traveling on the RM-311 road (El Albujón-Los Beatos) at 162 km / h, exceeding the maximum speed of the road by 102 km / h. it was 60 km / h.
Another young driver was surprised on the RM-602 road (Miranda-Los Muñoces), in the municipality of Fuente Álamo, driving at 150 km / h in a section limited by a specific sign of 50 km / h, exceeding the maximum speed allowed by 100 km / h.
This crime is contained in article 379 of the Penal Code and can be punished alternatively with prison terms of 3 to 6 months, a fine of 6 to 12 months, or work for the benefit of the community from 31 to 90 days, and in any case, with deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds for a time greater than 1 to 4 years.
The establishment of speed controls by the Civil Guard Traffic Group is framed within the objectives of the Road Safety Strategy adopted by the DGT for the decade 2011-2020, as one of the priorities aimed at reducing accidents on our roads, especially on conventional or secondary roads.
In this sense, the Traffic Sector of the Civil Guard of Murcia recalls that, without prejudice to the systematic and permanent control of vehicle movements to verify compliance with the limitations established by the declaration of the state of alarm on the occasion of the COVID-19 pandemic, continues to carry out its specific activity to monitor road safety 24 hours a day.
