They support terrorism. The Turkish foreign minister has reiterated his reservations about NATO enlargement

“We have two new applicants for NATO membership and two major threats facing the world. One is Russia, the other is a battle with international terrorism. Of course, we are calling for joint support for terrorism. These are the applicant states that support terrorism and that accept restrictions on Turkey, “said Çavuşoglu. He said that a solution would continue.

Ankara has repeatedly said Sweden and Finland support “terrorist groups”. Turkey describes some Kurdish organizations as such, such as the Kurdish Workers’ Party (PKK) and supporters of Cleric Fethullah Gülen, which the Turkish authorities consider the architect of the failed military coup in 2016.

In early June, Turkey called on NATO allies to work together in the fight against terrorism. The appeal comes at a time when Ankara is considering a new military campaign in northern Syria.

Turkish President’s spokesman Ibrahim Kalin recently called it a “counterterrorism operation” in El País. Turkey’s plans have been criticized, for example, by the United States and by Russia.

It will be Ukrainian grain

The Turkish Foreign Minister mentioned that further negotiations could also take place in Turkey on securing the export of Ukrainian grain.

“Under a UN proposal, a four-party meeting is to be held – the UN, Ukraine, Russia and Turkey. We are ready to host further negotiations in this format in our country … We await Russia’s comments on the next meeting and the proposals we have submitted, “said Çavuşoglu.

He met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Ankara this week to present UN proposals.

The UN is trying to secure the export of Ukrainian grain by sea with the assistance of Turkey. According to Lavrov, Ukraine must first demean its ports in the Black Sea. Ukraine, in turn, demands adequate security guarantees and expresses concern that Russia will misuse the maritime grain corridor for attacks from the sea.
