They strengthen the gastronomy and tourism of the Northeast of the state of Guanajuato – Boletines Dependencias

San José Iturbide, Guanajuato, August 10, 2021. A variety of family cuisine recipes from the municipality of San José Iturbide will be tasted in the third edition of the “Mestizo Gastronomic Festival”, an event that strengthens the gastronomy and tourism of the northeast of the state of Guanajuato.

On August 22, in the main garden of Villa El Capulín de San José Iturbide, 15 traditional cooks will evoke memories of their ancestors with the preparation of dishes such as: “Chiles en Pulque” and / or “Chiles Borrachos”, accompanied of pork rinds in beef, a gastronomic tradition of more than 50 years in the “Jewel of the Northeast” of the state of Guanajuato.

Frida Ximena Huett López, director of Tourism Products of the Ministry of Tourism, and Sara Arvizu Rico, chef and traditional cook representing the Iturbidense Gastronomic Mestizaje Civil Association and organizer of the event, presented the gastronomic, artisan, cultural and artistic program of the festival that Convenes from 10:00 in the morning to 7:00 at night.

“To speak of gastronomy is to speak of ‘Great Stories’, it is to evoke feelings, praise our ancestors and honor our beliefs, history, heritage and our land, which we eat from there,” said teacher Frida Huett.

Of the participating chefs, 12 are from San José Iturbide; 2 from Mission of Chichimecas, San Luis de la Paz; and 1 from Cerro Grande, Victoria. In addition, the program will be enriched with the participation of artisans such as Juan Hernández with his cardboard and Genny Campos Acosta with his dolls «Josecitas Iturbidenses», the latter has won 3 awards at the state level in the “Guanajuatense Toy Contest”.

Said festival -with a sustainable approach and free entry- will also have sale of embroidery, garments, napkins, pre-Hispanic instruments; as well as chilcuague products, sweets, liquors and marquees from exhibitors from Iturbide and neighboring municipalities, said Sara Arvizu.
