Attorney Daniel Stingo was the most voted constituent nationwide on May 15-16. The independent candidate with a seat in the Democratic Revolution obtained 102,147 of the preferences on the Approve Dignity list.
After the comfortable triumph of the independents in the Constituent Process, Stingo referred to certain sectors that have expressed their “fear” regarding the turn that the country could take after these historic elections.
In conversation with CNN Chile Y CHV News, Stingo specified that “I think there is a lot of ignorance more than anything else. The right wing in general and the right wing elites have always played with fear. In the Yes and No plebiscite, they said that Chile was going to become Russia, Cuba, anything ”.
“At that time they put the same fears in us and in the end nothing happened. Chile began to function as a great country. (…) Nobody wants extreme countries or anything, here what we want to be like Spain, France, Portugal, Finland or Sweden, with a social state of rights, that rights are not kept privatized, “he added.

Regarding the surprise emergence of independent candidates, the lawyer stated that: “if you start to analyze, the boys and girls who won are people who have a lot to do, for example, with territorial issues, which have not been caught. They have years of work and now the territories that knew them, which have seen them fighting for wetlands, for water, for environmental issues, chose them but nobody wants a revolution here ”.
