Juarez City.- Council members of the Commission for the Attention of Human Rights and Vulnerable Groups analyzes work strategies to prevent the LGBT community from being discriminated against when trying to donate blood, and at the same time sensitize health workers, it was reported to through a press release.
The above, due to a case that was presented at the Municipal Council to Prevent Discrimination (COMUPRED), in which hospital employees discriminated against people who are part of the LGBT population, who came to donate blood to a woman who He was reported to have cervical cancer.
It was detailed that the coordinator of the Commission indicated that after analyzing the case, it was concluded that an awareness campaign was carried out with the purpose of reaching the employees of the hospitals and clinics in order to remove the stigmas that people Homosexuals are promiscuous “when it is not the absolute truth.”
The director of Human Rights, for his part, pointed out that there is poor information and culture of those who attend hospitals, which results in a discriminatory act, because before rejecting people, they must perform a blood test to verify if they are viable or not for donation.
The members of the Commission decided during the meeting to work on an injunction for the Sanitary Jurisdiction (which governs health in the state), to have a meeting with doctors from the Health Directorate, and to work on training to sensitize workers from health, so that they provide dignified treatment to all the people who voluntarily come to donate their blood.
