Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, responded to the accusation of not understanding football. He also showed high concern for sports.
The man with the initials AM, a resident of Slawi, Tegal, was questioned by the Solo Police after making comments offending Gibran on social media. AM’s comment in question alluded to Gibran’s position.
AM commented on a post on the @garudaevolution account which talked about Gibran who asked for the semifinals and finals. Menpora Cup held in Solo. AM, via his Instagram account @ arkham_87, commented, “What does he know about football, only to be given a position,” on Saturday (13/3/2021).
What was conveyed by the teenager who was studying in Yogyakarta was considered to be hoax. He also came to the Solo Police Headquarters to account for his comments.
“If you say I don’t understand the ball, it has been said many times. We are attracting Menpora activities to Solo for economic recovery,” he said. Gibran when found at Solo City Hall, Tuesday (16/3/2021).
Gibran also gave an example of his concern in advancing the local team, Persis Solo, which is still at the League 2 level. In the near future, Gibran will announce the new owner of Persis Solo.
“If I say I don’t understand football, I have said many times, on the 20th we will announce the new Persis owner. That is my commitment so that Persis Solo can continue to exist in Solo. How do you not understand the ball,” said Gibran.
“Let Pasoepati’s friends also know. Mas Maryadi Gondrong (President of Pasoepati) also invited us yesterday. If our love for the ball is very big,” he added.
According to Gibran, Solo City has great potential to advance in the field of sports. He also promised to improve existing fields in Solo.
“The stadium is good, the field is good. The stadium behind SMA 6 is good too. We are committed to a big sport,” said President Joko Widodo’s first son again.
