Tijuana.- Despite the fact that in other parts of the country it has transpired that expired vaccines have been applied, in Baja California that scenario has not been reached, according to the state Health Secretary, Adrián Medina Amarillas.
The official pointed out that because it was known that the biological was going to expire, it was decided to reinforce the vaccination campaign in the last weeks of April, obtaining as a result that the biological soon to expire.
“That is why we reinforced the campaign, there was not a single expiration dose left and there are no expired ones and we do not have vaccines close to expiration,” he said.
Medina Amarillas insisted that all the biological that is currently applied in Baja California is not about to expire, nor has it expired, denying any possibility.
“They are put in time and form. It was possible to apply and not a single vaccine was left without being applied to a citizen and it is false that they are applied and are sufficient. Those that would expire have already been fully applied, ”he said.

However, the head of the Ministry of Health, remarked that the Federal Commission against Sanitary Risks, as well as the Astrazeneca laboratory, determined to extend the original expiration period of the vaccines, after having carried out various studies.
The Secretary of Health also ruled out that there is a shortage of vaccines in Baja California, assuring that there are boosters, first doses for adults and minors, as well as the fourth dose for teachers, health personnel, firefighters and police officers in the state’s medical units.
