The Competition Committee of the Salvadoran Football Federation (FESFUT) revoked the authorization for the match between Jocoro and Santa Tecla that corresponded to matchday 11, this weekend. The team will face the suspension of the match, since it did not deregister Alberto Castillo before the new coach Carlos Romero. However, the club requested a review of the case.
According to the letter issued by the Federation, Carlos Ernesto Romero took over as coach of the fire team on February 14 of this year, and based on article 12 of the competition rules of the First Division, the third section indicates that In order to register the contract of a new coach, it is necessary to comply with the disregistration of the previous coach, for whatever reason, “which he has not done to date,” the minutes dictate.
According to the regulations, Jocoro would lose 0-2 and the victory would be for the Tecleño team, a situation that will last until the legal issue is corrected, otherwise the team could face administrative relegation.
Article 12 dictates that when the main technician leaves the team, the assistant technician may replace him. The club must appoint a new head coach within a non-extendable period of 30 calendar days from his departure. If the club fails to comply with this deadline, the First Division will not schedule its matches and this entails the loss of the three points in dispute in favor of its opponent.
The problem that most affects Salvadoran soccer teams was also evident in the fire team, which is known to be going through salary problems as has also been reported by the team and some players have left the team due to the same situation, with outstanding debt. You have the equipment for more than 40 days.
According to art. 53, first paragraph of the Competition Rules of the First Division, for the 2023-24 season, Jocoro could be administratively relegated if it cannot schedule two of its matches consecutively, or three matches alternately. The firefighter team said, through social networks, that the Competition Committee had taken the wrong dates regarding the change of technicians and denied the information issued by the institution. The team presented a review request to the federation, and said that the league scheduled it because they knew that the team was within the time limits to make the necessary changes, if the team had played the game against Santa Tecla without completing the procedure. This is where art. 12 of the regulations would be valid.
“We request that the match against Santa Tecla be respected and maintained and scheduled by the First Division, since by giving points to the rival team they would be violating our right as a Club and at the same time also affecting CD Platense,” the team said.
Until the closing of this note, there was no resolution in favor of the fire team to dispute the date.
