The authorities revealed images of the altercation that Miami-Dade Police Chief Freddy Ramírez carried out in the city of Tampa last Sunday, July 23, before he attempted suicide by shooting himself in the head.
The video shows the Cuban-American speaking with local officials after they were called to the Marriott hotel, where Ramírez had argued in public with his wife. The call was made because the police chief pulled out a gun and placed it in his own mouth, threatening to shoot himself.

“My God, help me!” the woman yelled, before explaining that her husband had shot himself in the head. When questioned, she confirmed that he was still alive and conscious, but that he was bleeding a lot.
Later, the woman’s screams became more piercing, noting that Ramirez had gotten out of the vehicle and was beginning to walk toward traffic on I-75.
“Listen! Don’t follow him, don’t run towards him. Stay away from him!” the person who answered the call is heard saying, asking if she knew where the weapon used by Ramírez was.
The call appears to have been made from the car’s speaker system, as the woman stated that she did not know where the phone was, so she could not pick it up and follow Ramírez.
“OK, I need you to talk to me so we can help you. Where is he now?” the person asks.
“It’s in the grass, on the other side of the road,” replied the wife of the Cuban-American.
Ramírez was rushed to the hospital, where he remains in stable condition after undergoing two head surgeries.
