An almost immediate reaction generated in the management of the Yanine companies, the publication of a municipal notice in which the Jorge Jarur Saffie gallery was declared in a “state of abandonment”, with which the administrators were granted 30 days to deliver a formal response to communicate regarding a project or, simply, no initiative would be carried out, after almost five years of inactivity.
Already yesterday morning, a group of workers hired by the company began to carry out cleaning, painting and replacement works in the corridor that begins at Paseo Arauco up to the center where the Jarur gallery is located. with the gallery of Banco Concepción (different administrations) that goes out to Constitución street.
And if in this way it was sought to partially mitigate the claims of the tenants of the Banco Concepción gallery regarding the darkness and dirt of the corridor, the requirement to inform the municipality regarding a project to be developed, was answered in the afternoon. yesterday by the business manager Yanine, Mauricio Sieyes.
“We have not canceled the original project to build a shopping center, which we began in the parking space that is on Calle 18 de Septiembre, but which was left unfinished due to the problems of the pandemic. This project is something that we are already studying the ways to reactivate it, ”said the manager to LA DISCUSIÓN, anticipating the arguments that he would present hours later in the Department of Works of the Municipality of Chillán.
Currently, the corridor of the Jarur gallery maintains only two commercial premises active, which are precisely a technical workshop for cell phones and other electronic devices and the Ay Chabela restaurant, which are at the entrance to the corridor, and which can be accessed almost by the street itself.
“The rest of the gallery has partitions because, basically, it is a work facility,” adds Sieyes, who also clarifies that the rat extermination process required by the municipality was carried out in the interior.
Regarding the tentative dates for the resumption of work, the manager chose not to venture an exact start, however he rounded off the idea by saying that “we are looking for this to not exceed one year. That would be, in our opinion, a real term, because there are still some aspects that we are studying, and for that reason we prefer not to anticipate dates”.
a good omen
Among the tenants of the Banco Concepción gallery, there is not much sympathy for the state in which the Jarur gallery corridor is to date.
They accuse from bad odors during the summers, to a feeling of insecurity due to the darkness of the corridor and having been the scene of some crimes that affected both some locals and the passers-by themselves.
This was certified in various letters sent by the administration of Banco Concepción to the Legal unit of the local municipality.
“What happens is that since that corridor is so dark that criminals often assaulted women or used it to boot, because there are no cameras or anything there,” says Ginef Cartes, manager of the gallery owned by Sergio Sivori.
In any case, being aware of the plans to resume the project of building a shopping center in that space, he receives it as good news.
“We have always had a good relationship with that administration and we are really glad to know that they will continue with the shopping center. But we do ask that before that takes place, you continue to worry about keeping the corridor clean and illuminated so that it does not affect us or the people who pass by there every day. Regardless of how long it takes to build that center, the fact that they tell us what they are going to do is a good omen for us, ”he warned.
Declaration without effect
Richard Guzmán, municipal administrator of the Chillanejo consistory explains that having already obtained a concrete response and reaction from the Yanine companies, “this declaration of abandonment that we had issued is without effect.”
By being within the term, it is avoided that the Municipality has taken the initiative to clean, illuminate or close the owners with costs, in accordance with what is authorized by law.
This Friday, municipal staff will carry out a compliance inspection of the Jarur gallery.
