(CNN Spanish) – After remaining more than 30 days missing in the Amazon rainforest, this Sunday they were rescued by the National Navy of Colombia, a mother and her three children of 10, 12 and 14 in the village of La Esperanza, in Peru.
The health status of the mother and her children is stable, as confirmed by CNN on Monday, Ana Rosa Ropero, deputy director of the ESE María Angelines Hospital in Puerto Leguízamo, in the Putumayo state, in southern Colombia. The patients had an advanced state of malnutrition, generalized muscle hypertrophy and skin infection, said Ropero.

According to the health authorities, the mother was referred to the Putumayo Clinic of Puerto Asís, in the state capital and her children were transferred to the Pabón Neurovascular Clinic in Pasto, Nariño state, where they will receive specialized pediatric care.
In December, the family from Puerto Leguízamo was on vacation in the rural area of the state known as La Esperanza, bordering Peru. The father, who also vacationed with them, went fishing and, seeing that he did not return, the family decided to go looking for him. On their way, they lost their orientation and were lost for 34 days in the Amazon jungle.
On Saturday, authorities received notice via Facebook that members of the Secoya ethnicity had found the mother and children.
The Colombian National Navy deployed a rescue unit to a riverside community on the Putumayo River, approximately 180 kilometers from Puerto Leguízamo, where they were rescued and provided first aid.
