They request help to identify a thief who assaulted two children in Havana – 2024-04-13 23:36:44

A Cuban citizen went to social networks to ask for help identifying a thief who used a knife to threaten two minors at the door of her home in Havana. The subject allegedly took possession of her cell phones before escaping the scene.

The woman, identified on social networks as Lupe Arcelo Sánchez, shared images of a security video that shows the young thief near his victims, and offered a reward to find him.

“I will reward anyone who manages to identify that kid who, around two and a bit in the afternoon, assaulted my grandson and his little friend at the same entrance to my building,” the complaint reads.

The woman proceeded to describe the young man, noting that he had a piercing in his nose and had a distinctive tattoo on one of his legs.

“The assailant is black, young, a teenager, with a bull piercing, a tattoo on one of his legs on the back in the shape of an eye, he was wearing a white sleeveless sweater and shorts over blue or purple,” he added.

According to information circulating online, the assault occurred in broad daylight in the exclusive neighborhood of Miramar, located in the municipality of Playa. The area is known for having a large police presence, however, this does not seem to have helped the minors who ended up losing their phones.

The complainant stressed that the thief would have followed her grandson and his friend to the entrance of the building, before approaching to talk to them and gain their trust. Once within reach of him, the thief “snatched their phones and threatened them with a knife.”

The woman asked for help from anyone who might have security cameras in the area to track her movement and determine where she went after the assault.

“Any information, or anyone from here, from the area, who has cameras and can help me, please contact me directly. The assailant was, according to what the children tell me, in a work center on 22nd Street. They saw him leave from there,” the woman stated.

The incident generated outrage among Internet users, who pointed out the evident increase in insecurity that has been experienced on the Island for months. The worst thing about the situation, according to these people, is that the victims were two minors.

“Hopefully these bandits can be identified and taken off the streets”; “I hope they can identify the criminal, file a complaint, and Miramar has many cameras. What a fright they must have been through” and “Brazen and abusive… Oh, my God, these things make me so mad. With two children… It’s not easy,” were some of the opinions given.
