“As members of the Council, we strongly repudiate the comment on the Facebook social network in which a relative of mayor Cayetano Avalos is attacked,” said yesterday in a statement signed by members of the Mercedeño municipal legislature, Adriana Vidal Domínguez, María Dolores Cabral, Roberto Sánchez, Alejandro Difant and Pablo Romero.
After which they added: “We express our concern and rejection of this kind of attitudes that are more common every day in our society, even more so when a vulnerable person is injured in a discriminatory way and completely unrelated to issues of the public sphere.”
“We call on our community to reflect on the proper use of social networks and the media,” they stated in the final part of the letter released yesterday.
