They report 91 infections of covid-19 and 11 deaths

Dallas County reported 91 COVID-19 cases and 11 deaths from the disease on Friday.

In total, the pandemic has led to 259,286 cases and 3,972 deaths since March 2020.

The deceased were between 50 and 90 years old, according to the county.

The average every seven days is 215 cases and there is a contagion rate of 8.2 cases per 100,000 residents.

In the last 30 days, 1,106 cases were reported in school-age children and school personnel. 20% of covid-19 cases in April and May are under the age of 18, the report highlights.

“Today we report 91 cases of covid-19 and 11 deaths. These numbers may or may not be artificially low due to a problem with the state’s reporting system, ”said County Judge Clay Jenkins.

“With the announcement by the CDC yesterday that vaccinated people can stop using the mask and enjoy in crowds regardless of their size, it is cause for celebration,” added Jenkins, who however recalled that only 40% of residents of the county are fully vaccinated. “Let’s increase those numbers and celebrate together.”

For those who have not been vaccinated and do not wear a mask, their risk of contracting COVID-19 has not decreased, especially with new mutations of the virus circulating, Jenkins said. “Most Dallas County residents have at least one dose of vaccine. “Join the majority and together we will defeat covid-19.”
