They report 1,978 new cases and 27 deaths from covid-19

The Dallas County Health and Human Services reported 1,978 cases of covid-19 this Thursday, January 21, a considerable decrease from the previous day. On Wednesday there were 3,469 infections.

Authorities also reported 27 deaths from coronavirus. Among the deceased is a woman in her 30s who had previous health problems.

With these numbers, the confirmed infections in the county since the beginning of the pandemic reach 213,600 and deaths from coronavirus exceed 1,944.

As of Thursday, 16,979 people have been inoculated at the mega vaccination center located in Fair Park, south of the city.

County Judge Clay Jenkins acknowledged that there is a high demand for vaccines and a low supply.

“With more than 300,000 people registered (to receive the vaccine) and others registering every hour, and with only 9,000 doses available in Fair Park each week, and just a little more than 30,000 vaccines available in the other centers (…) there is much more demand than dose, “Jenkins said.

Health authorities continue to recommend the use of face masks and maintaining social distance, prevention measures that have helped reduce the rate of infections by 65%.
