Dallas County Health and Human Services reported 180 new COVID-19 infections and one death on Friday.
In total, the pandemic accounts for 262,088 cases and 4,107 deaths.
Although the average number of cases every seven days remains at 79, this number will increase given the increase in cases in recent days.
New variables have also been detected in the area, including the Delta variant, although most cases are of the Alpha variant (previously B.1.17).
County Judge Clay Jenkins commented on the new Delta variant cases. “The two cases of the Delta mutation occurred in unvaccinated people under the age of 45 and have been hospitalized with pneumonia,” Jenkins said.
The county judge detailed that the Delta variant is much more transmissible and represents a high risk for unvaccinated people, ”said Jenkins.
“Licensed vaccines provide good protection against variants; If you haven’t, don’t wait any longer, ”insisted Jenkins.
This weekend the vaccinations will continue in Fair Park, in several Parkland Hospital clinics and also in the Barrios Unidos clinic among other places.
According to the county, 56% of the county’s population has already received at least one two of the covid-19 vaccine.
Currently, 3.7% of covid tests have been positive, but there are cases of other respiratory diseases such as parainfluenza (19%), rinovirlus (24%) and RSV (12%).
Meanwhile, in hospitals, there are 50 covid-19 patients in intensive care units and 355 came to emergency rooms with symptoms of this disease.
