The taxes for cars in the Plovdiv municipality have already been calculated and citizens can check the amounts due on the website of the local administration. This is easily done in the section “Information on financial obligations of individuals” against the EGN (for individuals) or Bulstat (for company vehicles). The problem is that when entering the identification of the persons, the sum of all the liabilities to the local treasury comes out, without a breakdown of what is for what.
Car tax payment has also started, with owners who pay the full amount by May 2 getting a 5% discount. Otherwise, motor vehicle tax can be paid in two equal installments, the first – until June 30, 2023, and the second – until October 31.
We remind you that local taxes in Plovdiv have not been changed. But not all car owners will pay the same amount as last year. A difference in what is due will appear if the vehicle passes from one “age group” to another, as the coefficients are different for each. For cars up to 5 years old, the coefficient is 2.3, for cars between 5 and 10 years old it is 1.5, for cars over 10 years old it is 1.3, etc. The coefficient decreases gradually until the car is in the category over 20 years old.
The car tax is calculated according to a formula with three components – the engine power, the environmental category and the age of the vehicle. The first two elements are constant, but the third is not. Thus, owners whose vehicle turns 6, 11 and 16 years old this year will pay less for motor vehicle tax. However, the owners of the oldest cars, which are in the over 20-year-old category, will get a little more (see the table). Until now, their coefficient in the formula was 1 (for cars over 15 to 20 years old), and in the future it will be 1.1 (for cars over 20 years old).
These coefficients are set in national legislation and individual municipalities have no right to change them. Local administrations set only the environmental factor rate and the power rate.
At the moment, Plovdiv residents can also pay the patent tax, tax on taxi transport and tourist tax. The amounts for building tax and garbage fee have not been uploaded yet.
