Borislav Sarafov’s candidacy for chief prosecutor was raised at a plenary session of the Supreme Judicial Council.
It was announced at the last possible meeting for this meeting.
Sarafov is currently the acting chief prosecutor. He was elected to the post after the release of Ivan Geshev in June 2023.
Sarafov was nominated by investigator Stefan Petrov and two other colleagues from the prosecutor’s college.
“This nomination was made with the consent of the candidate,” Petrov said at the meeting.
So far, in three meetings, no request for the position has been presented.
Under the law, at least three members of the Prosecutor’s College and the Minister of Justice can make recommendations.
