The municipality of Comandante Andresito, in the north of Misiones, warned the population not to consume meat of “unknown origin” due to the recent theft of a calf that was sick in the area of La Selva, which was slaughtered and sold to different butcher shops in area.
The cattle rustling occurred on June 4 when a group of rustlers stole a calf that was medicated and after slaughtering it sold it in local businesses, for which the commune warned not to consume meat of dubious origin “and thus prevent possible food poisoning that can cause much harm to the community.
The dead and clandestinely slaughtered bovine was a Bradford breed weighing about 100 kilograms and was undergoing medical treatment, its 28-year-old owner reported to the police.
As part of this case, Misiones Police officers managed to arrest two men, aged 26 and 32, and seized a vehicle, as well as remains of slaughtered beef, which were not fit for human consumption.
The investigations of the uniformed officers allowed to determine that part of the infected meat would be in a house in the Quintas Altas neighborhood, of that locality, reason why with an order from the Court of Instruction 3 of Puerto Iguazú, the house was searched and the person was kidnapped. meat.
Víctor Chamula, president of the Andresito Livestock Association (AGA), told channel 2 of Andresito that “today the lives of human beings are at risk.”
“The problem is that today there are around 100 kilos of meat that it is not known in which butcher shop, market or freezer they are. Because of the rustlers, our population consumes meat without any type of control,” he said.
The Andresito Livestock Association was warned about the case of a calf possibly infected with rabies, it was separated from the cattle and isolated in a corral with medical treatment, but on June 4, cattle rustling occurred in the La Selva area, where rustlers slaughtered that sick animal.
