A group of people who identified themselves only as parents demonstrated in the Plaza de la Constitución against Decree 6-2022, the Vaccination Law, approved as a national emergency on February 1. Among their arguments they mentioned the rejection of the mandatory immunization of minors, however, the regulations do not establish that.
Giovanni Fratti, representative of the parents’ group and member of the Foundation against Terrorism, affirmed that more than 120 people were part of the protest against “the law of corruption”.
Among the points that they reject, he mentioned the creation of “a council of bureaucrats” that will supposedly be able to make purchases without bidding, declare a national health emergency, and force parents to hand over their children’s private information.

In addition to requiring President Alejandro Giammattei to veto the legislation, he mentioned that the COVID-19 pandemic is over.
“No more corruption, no more compulsory vaccination, don’t mess with my children, corrupt politician, my children are not livestock, respect parents and children,” he said.
VACCINATION IS NOT MANDATORY
The Vaccination Law entered the Legislature in September 2017 and approved this year does not establish immunization as an obligation. The deputies included amendments to express that this is voluntary and free.
With it, the Immunization Council is created and it will ensure a budget to guarantee the vaccination of the population regardless of the disease.
Likewise, the regulations are not specifically for COVID-19, but would strengthen the vaccination programs of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance in general.
