The Foreign Minister of Venezuela, Yván Gil, reported this Friday that the debates of the first political and academic forum on the situation in Colombia, held for two days in Caracas, concluded, whose participants proposed carrying out a broad process of political discussion among Colombian actors, which help avert the coup d’état underway against President Gustavo Petro.
In a statement approved during the meeting, which was read by the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, The participants in the forum issued the proposal to hold this dialogue in the Venezuelan capital, with the mediation of Venezuela, the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) and countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Trade Treaty of the towns
(ALBA-TCP).
They stressed the importance of this space, “given the worsening of the crisis” in Colombia, “as well as the execution of a coup d’état, publicly denounced by President Gustavo Petro.”
They pointed out that the political discussion process mediated by Venezuela would become “continuity of the efforts made by the Bolivarian Revolution in the peace dialogue processes with the different armed groups and the Government of the Republic of Colombia, which allow progress towards stability.” in this brother country.
The participants in the forum proposed “inviting President Xiomara Castro, in her capacity as Pro Tempore President of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac), as well as the countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA). -TCP), in order to contribute their good offices in this dialogue process and promote conversations that tend to build paths towards respect for popular sovereignty that guarantee the full well-being of Colombia.
